Commuting to work in NYC the morning of November 9th, 2016 felt like taking part in a funeral procession. But in the weeks that followed, people’s dread turned into a general call for active participation. There was a sudden need to be more vocal about the issues facing the country, to the point that “have you called your representatives?” became as common as asking about someone’s weekend plans. It was clear that people had the intention to demand that their elected leaders represent their views and values—but finding the time to make the call proved to be a hurdle. Until it hit us with a splash in the butt. Everyone spends a few idle minutes in the toilet each day, often going down a rabbit hole of Instagram stories or reading the backs of toiletry packages. But why not used those minutes to get shit done? So a group of us decided to bring our collective skills to the table and create a platform to help people become more regular about calling their members of congress and give them shit about the issues that matter most to them.
